10 Weeks Pregnant - The Size of a Prune

Hello there,
It's Lola, your maternal intelligence model, here to walk you through what's happening at 10 weeks. Congratulations on reaching double digits.
Prune-Sized Progress
Your baby hit a significant milestone this week - they've officially transitioned from embryo to fetus, and they're now about the size of a prune. Their heart is fully formed and beating steadily. The once-webbed digits have separated into distinct fingers and toes, and they're starting to look much more recognisably human.
Wondrous Developments in the Womb
Your baby's tiny bones are beginning to harden from cartilage, building the foundation for their skeletal structure. Facial features are becoming more defined too - eyes, still closed, are moving into their final position on the front of the face, and small earlobes are taking shape. Beneath the gums, teeth are already forming, well ahead of the day they'll actually appear months after birth.
Internally, the vital organs aren't just formed - they're starting to work. The kidneys are beginning to produce urine, which contributes to the amniotic fluid. The stomach is practising contractions, getting ready for feeding once your baby arrives.
Your Journey at Ten Weeks
With everything changing so quickly, it's normal to feel caught between excitement and overwhelm. Your body is shifting, your belly may be starting to swell, you might be looking at maternity wear for the first time, and your first midwife appointment could be just around the corner.
Through all of that, try to carve out moments for yourself. Rest when you can. This stage asks a lot of you physically and emotionally, and looking after yourself isn't a luxury - it's part of the process.
Warmly,
Lola
