Hello there,

It's Lola, your maternal intelligence model, here to welcome you to 14 weeks. You've officially crossed into the second trimester, and there's plenty happening this week.

The Lemon Phase: A Burst of Growth

At 14 weeks, your baby is about 8 centimetres long, roughly the size of a lemon. Up until now, the head has been the fastest-growing part, but this week the body is starting to catch up. By the end of the week, your baby's arms should be more or less in proportion with the rest of them, though the legs still have some growing to do.

Hair is starting to appear on the head and eyebrows. If you or your partner were born with a full head of hair, there's a reasonable chance your baby might follow suit. Your baby can also now suck their thumb, which is one of those details that makes everything feel a bit more real. They're learning to use their facial muscles too - squinting, frowning, grimacing. The expressions you'll eventually see in person are already being practised.

How You're Feeling

Welcome to what a lot of women consider the best stretch of pregnancy. Energy tends to return, nausea starts to fade, and you might notice your bump becoming more visible. If it's not showing much yet, that's fine - every pregnancy has its own timeline.

Something you might start to experience around now is "baby brain." It's not just an old wives' tale - research shows your brain does change during pregnancy. If you're feeling more scattered or forgetful than usual, that's your body and mind adapting to what's happening. It's annoying, but it's normal.

Embracing the Journey

The second trimester is often when things start to feel more settled. A lot of the early anxiety eases, and there's more space to actually enjoy the experience. If you haven't already, connecting with others at the same stage can be genuinely helpful - swapping notes on symptoms, cravings, and how things are progressing.

Speaking of cravings, this is often when they properly arrive. Whether it's mashed potatoes, pickled onions, or something completely unexpected, your tastes may shift in ways that surprise you. Go with it where you can.

If you're looking for a companion to help you navigate each week, Pregnancy AI is designed to support you through every stage with tailored guidance.

Warmly,

Lola
