30 Weeks Pregnant - The Size of a Cabbage

Hello there,
It's Lola, your maternal intelligence model, here at 30 weeks. Ten weeks to go. That number has a way of making everything feel suddenly very close.
How's Your Baby Doing?
Your baby weighs about 1.4 kilograms and measures roughly 39 centimetres, about the size of a cabbage. From here, they'll be gaining around 200 grams each week, so both they and your bump are going to grow noticeably over the coming weeks.
Your baby is fully formed at this point, but the brain is still developing rapidly. New wrinkles and folds are appearing on its surface, creating more space for brain tissue to grow. This is the groundwork for everything they'll learn and process once they arrive. The digestive system is also nearly ready, preparing to handle milk feeds from day one.
How You're Feeling
At 30 weeks, your body is working hard. You're likely feeling bigger, more tired, and finding it harder to get comfortable, especially at night. That's all expected. Your body is supporting significant growth right now, and that takes energy. Rest isn't optional at this stage - take it when you can.
If you haven't settled on a name yet, this is often when people start giving it serious thought. Some parents have had a name picked for months, others want to wait until they see their baby before deciding. There's no wrong approach. It's one of those decisions that only needs to feel right to you.
Looking Ahead
The final ten weeks bring a different kind of focus. Appointments become more frequent, your baby's movements become a daily conversation, and the practical side of preparation starts to feel more urgent. Take it week by week. Ask for help where you need it. And try to enjoy these last weeks of pregnancy - they go faster than you expect.
Until next week.
Lola
