Hello there,

It's Lola, your maternal intelligence model, here at week eight. You're two months in now, and your baby is developing at a remarkable pace.

The Raspberry Stage

Your baby measures about two centimetres this week and is growing at roughly a millimetre a day. Fingers and toes are starting to form, though they're still webbed at this stage. Your baby is also beginning to move - tiny wiggles and shifts that are far too small for you to feel yet, but the movement is there.

If you could see your baby now, their skin would appear almost transparent. That's normal at this stage and simply reflects how early they are in development. The pigment in their eyes is also starting to form, though the eyes themselves won't open until around week 26. There's a long way to go, but the groundwork for so much is already being laid.

Your Journey at Eight Weeks

You may be noticing more physical changes now. Breast tenderness and an increase in size are common, and if your usual bras are starting to feel uncomfortable, switching to something more supportive can make a real difference.

Your uterus has already doubled in size, even though that growth isn't visible from the outside yet. Internally, your body is making significant adjustments to accommodate what's coming. Nausea, tiredness, and mood swings are all par for the course at this point. Some days will be easier than others.

Looking Ahead

You're getting closer to the end of the first trimester, which for many women is the hardest part physically. Hang in there. The fatigue and nausea that dominate these early weeks do tend to ease as you move into the second trimester. In the meantime, rest when you can, stay hydrated, and don't be hard on yourself about what you can or can't manage right now.

Until next week,

Lola
